Where can I find cheap breakdown cover?

Answer (by Martin H):
Hi,
Try first here: www.simplebreakdowncover.co.uk. This is a price comparison website and they compare UK and European breakdown covers - actually compare, not only list banners and ads. There is a quite sophisticated search engine which compares hundreds of covers and they'll give you the exact premium based on your individual requirements (i.e. car age, your age etc.) for the whole variety of recovery providers (AA, RAC and smaller ones). They won't list policies that are not relevant to you (i.e. your car is to old etc.). There are two types of search available: you can search covers that are available within your budget or you can choose options you need and they'll list products that match your requirements (with their prices) from the majority of breakdown service providers operating in the UK.

You can find some special offers there as well which will give you extra discounts (that is, some covers can cost you less than advertised on providers' websites...). For example, a while ago you could get cashback on any UK cover from either RAC or The AA (probably the most reliable and the biggest breakdown recovery providers in the UK).

Hope this helps.

aa breakdown cover (parts & garage cover)?

hello there you wonderful people. can anyone give me some info on the aa parts and breakdown cover. seems to good to be true. say i have an oil leak thats needs fixing i can phone up the aa and they will take care of it for me? thanks

Answer (by Timbo is here):
There will be loads of things that are not covered, excluded from the cover, so you need to read the terms and conditions very carefully before you sign up. Things that look too good to be true nearly always are. One important thing is that it only covers things that are causing it to breakdown. An oil leak will not normally be a breakdown as with a little top up it can be driven to a place of repair. From the website "•For a claim to be considered you must call the AA for breakdown assistance. •Once you've nominated a vehicle for Breakdown Repair Cover, you'll need to keep it serviced in line with the manufacturer's recommendations. Servicing must be done by a suitable garage business. •A claim on your Breakdown Repair Cover cannot be for any faults that occur during the first 14 days of cover. If you change your vehicle you will also not be able to claim for 14 days after making the change. •For more information and complete details of what's covered, see the Breakdown Repair Cover terms and conditions."

breakdown cover charges after policy cancellation?

a car insurance policy has been cancelled but the company are asking for the windscreen and breakdown cover to be paid , is this correct.

Answer (by Kernow Lady):
The monthly charges average out over the full year. If you cancel before you pay the full years premium they can bill you for work done. UK

Why would you renew your car breakdown cover ?

i joined the AA for 29.99. i never needed to call them out. my renewal was 70.22. several times over the years i've let my cover lapse and then rejoin. both the AA and RAC cover you for 29.99 and usually offer you 25.00 of vouchers for joining. as i said i simply swap between AA and RAC or let my cover lapse for a few days. i then have 40.00 to spend on myself / family.
